Sphynx cat: care and features of the breed
Among the lovers of the unique, unique and exotic there are those who love sphinx cats. What is surprising about this breed? Lack of wool. To us this wonder brought from Canada. However, now there are two more breeds bred in Russia: the Don and St. Petersburg.
What else is interesting about the appearance of the sphinx besides the absence of wool? Unlike the usual and familiar to us breeds, these cats have big ears, wrinkled skin. When stroking the sphinx, it seems that you touch the suede, to the touch they are warm and soft.
Most breeders say that this breed is distinguished by its sweetness, affection and devotion. They always want to be the center of attention not only of a person, but also of another pet. They differ in intelligence, they are very energetic, they love to show off in front of the owner, they show friendliness to strangers.
They love the host man very much, they will follow him on the heels, purring each time, and wagging his tail, show joy and pleasure. Sphinx’s favorite fun is to hide to be found. They are curious, do not like loneliness, so do not turn them on to a person who is always busy.
The sphinx breed of cats rarely gets sick, however, they have their own hereditary diseases, which you should pay special attention to. Often there are heart problems in these breeds. Namely, sudden death at an early age, called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Hereditary myopathy is also encountered. This disease is associated with progressive muscle dysfunction. The first thing that affects the breed – neck muscles, after a while all the muscles have weakened. However, veterinarians state that the most common cause of death in this breed is the obstruction of the airways due to the inability to take food. Breeders are struggling with this, but you can not argue with genetics.
And now about the main thing – leaving. Since this breed has no wool, some rules must be observed during courtship. Like the sphinx or not, but they need to be bathed at least once a week. If you neglect this, the cat will look dirty, its skin will become sticky, there will be diseases associated with it. It is necessary to clean the ears and cut the claws systematically.
What else to tell about the breed? Like any cat, sphinxes also cause allergies. Yes, the owner will be spared from wool on clothes and bedspreads, but from an allergic reaction is unlikely.
Sphinxes – amazing animals, especially suitable for fans of the unusual and extraordinary.
